Morocco’s Royal Navy Rescues 270 Irregular Migrants

Casablanca – Morocco’s Royal Navy coastguards operating in the Mediterranean and Atlantic have rescued, during the period from December 24, 2022 to January 4, 2023, 270 candidates for irregular migration of different nationalities, including Sub-Saharans, Yemenis and a Syrian, military sources said. 

These candidates have attempted dangerous crossings on board of makeshift boats, kayaks, jet skis and even swimming.

The rescued people received first aid on board the Royal Navy Units, before being brought back safe and sound to the nearest ports of the Kingdom and handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures, the same source said.
