This contest is part of the pre-selection phase of candidates who will participate in the finals of the fourth edition of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema competition of memorization, recitation and psalmody of the Holy Quran, scheduled for the month of Ramadan, said Mohamed Najib Binebine, an official in the Foundation Mohammed VI of African Ulema.
He added that these reciters compete in three categories namely the memorization of the entire Holy Quran with recitation according to the reading “Warsh an Nafiâ”, the memorization of the entire Holy Quran with recitation according to the reading chosen by the candidate and the category of psalmody (Tajwid) with memorization of at least five Hizbs of the Holy Quran.
Through this contest, the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema aspires to strengthen the interest of young African Muslims in the Holy Quran.
At the level of Mauritania, the pre-selection phase is conducted according to specific criteria, under the supervision of a committee with extensive experience in the memorization and recitation of the Holy Quran.
