Abu Dhabi: Morocco Participates in 8th Legislators Forum, 13th IRENA Session

Abu Dhabi – The 8th Legislators Forum and the 13th session of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) opened Friday in Abu Dhabi, with the participation of Morocco.

The Kingdom is represented at these two meetings, which are part of the “Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2023”, by Tarik Kadiri, member of the Bureau of the House of Representatives and Secretary of the House.

Speaking at the Legislators’ Forum, part of IRENA, Kadiri stressed Morocco’s leadership in energy transition and the use of clean and renewable energy, the outcome of the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the Kingdom’s strategic national policies in this area.

In addition to its leadership in the production of solar and wind energy, Morocco has become the first African and Arab country to have a roadmap for the production of green hydrogen, said the Moroccan MP, noting that the Kingdom is among the top seven countries that have the potential and infrastructure necessary to succeed in this field.

In addition, Kadiri called for the institutionalization of parliamentary cooperation in the field of accelerating the energy transition, through the creation of an international parliamentary forum, calling for the establishment of parliamentary standing committees at the level of continental, regional and international parliamentary institutions and organizations.
