Over 13K Athletes Expected to Partake in 33rd Marrakech International Marathon

Casablanca – The 33rd Marrakech International Marathon (MIM), scheduled for January 29, will see the participation of some 13,000 athletes from 70 countries, the competition’s director, Mohammed Knidri, said Thursday.

The MIM, held under the high patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, has succeeded in establishing its place as one of the most important sporting events in the Kingdom and at the continental and international levels, Kndiri told MAP on the sidelines of a press conference held in Casablanca.

The event, which will see the participation of 8,000 Moroccan athletes, is a qualifying competition for the World Athletics Championships to be held in Budapest next August and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, he continued.

He also pointed out that this sporting event attracts the best athletes at the continental and international levels. For this edition, the organizing committee aims to improve the records of the women’s marathon and the men’s half marathon.
