AfDB Provides $1 Million to Support Private Investment in Sustainable Transport in Seven African Countries, Including Morocco

Abidjan – The Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group will provide a $1 million grant in the form of technical assistance to the Green Mobility Facility for Africa (GMFA).

The Green Mobility Facility for Africa provides technical assistance and investment capital to scale up and accelerate private sector investments in sustainable transport solutions in seven countries, namely Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone and South Africa, the AfDB said in a statement.

The grant will help create an enabling environment for electric vehicles, design electric vehicle business models and guidelines for the public and private sectors.

It will also, according to the same source, develop a bankable pipeline of e-mobility projects, ensure regional coordination and knowledge sharing, to help catalyze private sector financing in the next investment phase of the African Green Mobility Facility.
