In response to questions from journalists at a press briefing after the Council of Government’s meeting, Baïtas stressed that all violations relating to speculation on food products will be punishable.
Regarding the red meat, the Minister said the government has taken two important measures, the first relating to the collection of import duties applicable to this food, while the second concerns the suspension of value added tax, the results of which will be palpable soon.
In addition, Baitas said that the cultivation of tomatoes during this year is more important than last year, explaining that the increase in the price of this product in recent days is due to the cold snap that the Kingdom is experiencing.
In this regard, he noted that the government will take the necessary measures to reduce prices, and thus maintain the purchasing power of citizens.
