Thus, the Council decided to support Morocco’s candidacy to the Council of the International Maritime Organization for the period 2024-2025, during the elections which will be held on the occasion of the 33rd session of the General Assembly of the IMO, in December 2023 in London.
Similarly, the Council decided to support the candidacy of Mohammed Charef for re-election to the Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families for the period 2024-2027, at the elections scheduled on the occasion of the 11th Meeting of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Migrant Workers, to be held in New York in June 2023.
The AU Executive Council also took note of Morocco’s candidacy for the United Nations Security Council for the period 2028-2029, during the elections scheduled for June 2027 in New York.
The endorsement of these candidacies by the AU Executive Council testifies to Morocco’s great credibility within the pan-African organization and the relevance of the Kingdom’s strategy, under the High Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to strengthen its presence in international organizations.
The Moroccan delegation was led to the AU Executive Council by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita.
