“The Conference welcomes the pioneering role played by His Majesty King Mohammed VI for a strong and resilient Africa through an ambitious South-South cooperation able to ensure a harmonious and sustainable development of Africa,” says the final statement adopted at the end of the 2nd Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Climate Commission for the Sahel Region.
The Conference also appointed HM King Mohammed VI to the panel of Heads of State in support of the Chairperson of the Climate Commission for the Sahel Region as part of the strengthening of the advocacy for its operationalization.
The Conference decided “to establish a panel of Heads of State to support the Chairperson of the Climate Commission for the Sahel Region as part of the strengthening of the advocacy for its operationalization. This panel is composed of the following leaders His Majesty King Mohammed VI, H.E. Alassane Ouattara, H.E. Muhammadu Buhari, H.E. General Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno,” the final statement notes.
The 2nd Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Climate Commission for the Sahel Region took place this Friday in Addis Ababa on the sidelines of the 36th General Assembly of the African Union, under the chairmanship of H.E. Mohamed Bazoum, president of the Republic of Niger, chair of the Climate Commission for the Sahel Region.
Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, represented HM King Mohammed VI at this Conference.
