Sheikh Zaïd Hospital in Rabat Receives Accreditation Canada’s ‘Gold’ Level

Rabat – Sheikh Zaïd International University Hospital was awarded a “GOLD” level accreditation by the independent and international organization Accreditation Canada, during a ceremony organized on Saturday in Rabat, in the presence of eminent personalities and health professionals

This recognition demonstrates the commitment of Sheikh Zaïd Hospital, the first in Morocco to obtain such an international high level accreditation, to ensure quality health care and its willingness to comply with the safest practices based on international standards.

Speaking at the ceremony held at the Abulcasis International University of Health Sciences, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, stressed that this accreditation from an organization recognized by internationally renowned institutions such as the “Standards Council of Canada”, “the International Society for Quality in Health Care” or “the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation” is a “significant step forward” which comes in a context of ambitious social reforms driven by HM King Mohammed VI.

It is a historic milestone, carrying a very strong symbolism, the result of rigorous and hard work that gives shape to a whole vision of the future and opens the way to promising horizons, he said.

The Moroccan health system overhaul today requires that accreditation procedures be elevated to the rank of national priorities, the minister stressed, urging all players in the national health system to follow the lead of Sheikh Zaïd International University Hospital, which, as an accredited facility, is called upon to play a greater strategic role in the future, in a national health system that is now integrated, inclusive, and resilient.

Accreditation Canada’s CEO, Leslee Thompson, said she was honoured to attend the ceremony to celebrate the significant achievements made over the years to improve the health system in Morocco.

Accreditation Canada, which operates in 38 countries around the world, is pleased to be working closely with health care stakeholders in the Kingdom to achieve the desired goals in terms of quality patient care, she added.

This is a long-term task that must be tackled with commitment, she stressed, believing that quality is an important catalyst for moving forward, being competitive with competitors and in line with international standards and norms, the ultimate goal being to offer everyone the best possible care.
