Launch of Women’s World Peace Forum in Essaouira Next March

Essaouira – The Warriors for Peace, a movement of Jewish and Muslim women for Peace, Justice and Equality, will launch on March 7 and 8 in Essaouira, an “International Appeal of Women for Peace”, on the occasion of the International Women’s Day.

Initiated in France in 2022 and co-chaired by Hanna Assouline and Fatima Bousso, the movement will bring together women from around the world, activists for peace but also committed to justice, emancipation and freedom, which “will deliver together a common message, a call to Peace, to the world,” say the organizers in a statement.

The same source noted that among these women who will take part in this event, placed under the auspices of UNESCO and supported by the United Nations (Alliance of Civilizations), are Palestinians, Israelis, Liberians, Iranians, Afghans…, including Shirin Ebadi, Nobel Peace Prize winner (Iran), Jessica Mwiza, Memory activist (Rwanda), Huda Abu Arquob, president of the Alliance for Middle East Peace (Palestine) and Nurith Hagragh, Women Wage Peace (Israel).

“Symbolizing the richness of diversity in the land of Islam and more particularly the rebuilding of an open and permanent dialogue between Muslims and Jews, driven by the commitment of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, it is the city of Essaouira that will host this event, a founding act of a global Alliance of Women for Peace that intends to influence political decisions based on the UN resolution 1325,” read the statement.
