Grand Prix Hassan II: Three Moroccan Tennis Players Eliminated

Marrakech – The Moroccan tennis players Reda Bennani, Elliot Benchetrit and Younes Lalami Laaroussi were eliminated, Monday in Marrakech, in the first round of the 37th edition of the Grand Prix Hassan II of Tennis, a large-scale sports event placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

Reda Bennani, who had qualified Sunday for the final table of this event counting for the ATP circuit after his victory over the Czech Vit Kopriva in two sets (7-6 and 7-5), was defeated by the Italian Andrea Vavassori, in two sets (6-2 and 6-3).

Elliot Benchrit, the other representative of Moroccan tennis engaged in the final table thanks to a wild-card, was beaten by the Spaniard Jaume Munar, in two sets (6-4 and 6-4).

Their compatriot Younes Lalami Laaroussi, who also participated in the final table thanks to a wild-card, was eliminated against the Australian Alexei Popyrin (95th world), in two sets (6-3 and 6-2).

The clash between France’s Hugo Gaston, ranked 104th in the world, and Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff, ranked 100th in the world, went in favor of the Frenchman (3-6, 6-4, 7-5).

In doubles, the British duo of Daniel Evans and Johnny O’Mara were eliminated by the Czech duo of Roman Jebavý and Adam Pavlásek in two sets (6-3, 6-2).

The competitions of the 37th edition of the Grand Prix Hassan II of Tennis, an event of the ATP Tour 250, started Sunday at the Royal Tennis Club of Marrakech (RTCMA), with the qualifying matches for the final table of this prestigious sporting event.
