Moroccan Football Museum: Towards Creation of Research, Documentation Center in Sports Field

Rabat – The president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) Fouzi Lekjaa, the president of the National Museums Foundation (FNM) Mehdi Qotbi, and the director of the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco (BNRM) Mohamed El Ferrane, recently signed a partnership agreement for organizing and managing the research and documentation center in the field of sports, which will be established at the future Moroccan Football Museum located at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maamora.

According to the BNRM, this agreement is part of efforts to safeguard the common sporting memory through books and documents, all media (paper, digital, audiovisual), the aim being to contribute to the influence of national football at regional, continental and international level, in accordance with the High Directives of HM King Mohammed VI.

In the same context, the FNM has indicated on its website that it is, through this agreement, “to document and archive the rich history of Moroccan football in order to honor and transmit it to future generations.”

In March 2022, the FNM and the FRMF had concluded a partnership agreement for the creation and management of the Moroccan Football Museum at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maamora.

This new structure aims to highlight the history of national soccer that began in 1906, through the exhibition of photographs, images and soccer objects, which will offer all generations, especially young people, the opportunity to learn about the performances of Moroccan footballers.
