Laayoune: Arrest of Alleged Owner of Workshop Manufacturing Dinghies for Illegal Immigration

Laayoune – The anti-gang brigade of the Laayoune Provincial Security arrested, on Monday evening, on the basis of precise information provided by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, the alleged owner of a workshop manufacturing traditional dinghies to organize illegal immigration operations.

The 35-year-old accused, with a criminal record for organizing illegal immigration and human trafficking, was arrested in Laayoune, said a security source, noting that the search of his workshop located in the Al-Wifaq neighborhood in the same city has allowed the seizure of a dinghy of recent manufacture, as well as a hood, a roll of plastic and several materials and equipment used in the manufacture and assembly of these boats.

The accused was placed in custody at the disposal of the judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor, while research and investigations are continuing to determine all the ramifications of this criminal activity.
