Lotte Championship: Moroccan Ines Laklalech Becomes First Arab and North African Golfer to Make Cut on LPGA Tour

Casablanca – Moroccan golf prodigy and member of the excellence cell of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (FRMG) Ines Laklalech has marked the history of national golf by crossing the cut at the Lotte Championship, an event of the LPGA Tour, which took place at the Hoakalei Country Club in Hawaii from April 12 to 15, 2023, and brought together 144 of the world’s best female players.

“Ines Laklalech has reached a major milestone for national golf by becoming the first golfer from Morocco and the Arab world to make the cut in an LPGA Tour event. Despite a few twists and turns, the young Casablanca woman was able to secure her qualification for the last two rounds of the tournament,” the FRMG said in a statement.

After winning the Lacoste Ladies Open de France on the Ladies European Tour (LET) in 2022 and obtaining her card for the LPGA Tour in the same year, Ines Laklalech “continues her rise in the elite of women’s world golf and confirms the hopes raised by the Moroccan public and the FRMG,” according to the same source.

“This remarkable performance highlights the perseverance of Ines, her hard work and the quality of her coaching. This success is an inspiring example for young Moroccan golfers and attests to the vitality of golf in Morocco,” said the FRMG.
