UAE Astronaut Amazed by Morocco as Seen from Space

Rabat – Emirati astronaut Sultan Al-Neyadi, on a 6-month mission in space, recently shared on Twitter his awe of Morocco after observing the Kingdom from the International Space Station (ISS).

“You can’t walk through Morocco without being in awe of its beauty,” he said, recalling that the Kingdom is home to the world’s oldest university, Al Qarawiyyin, as well as “breathtaking landscapes, architecture and history.”

The tweet was accompanied by a photo taken from space of Rabat and its river Bouregreg.

Astronaut Al-Neyadi is the only Arab to have performed a maintenance mission outside the ISS. This is referred to as an Extra-Vehicular Activity or EVA.

Trained by NASA to perform EVA missions, Sultan Al-Neyadi earned a PhD in data leak prevention technology from Griffith University in 2016, before being selected as an astronaut by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center in 2018.
