Rabat Region, Rwanda Development Board to Boost Cooperation

Kigali – The Rabat-Salé-Kenitra Region and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) agreed on Wednesday in Kigali to strengthen their cooperation in several areas, including investment attractiveness.

To this end, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Council of the Region and the RDB to establish a framework for cooperation in the implementation of a program to strengthen and facilitate investment and business between the two parties.

Signed by Nelly Mukazayire, Deputy Director General of the RDB, and Rachid El Abdi, President of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Region, who is visiting Rwanda at the head of an important delegation, the memorandum also aims to consolidate institutional relations and support skills through bilateral cooperation.

The agreement also covers the facilities granted to businessmen from Rabat-Salé-Kénitra and Kigali in the implementation of investment projects, as well as the exchange of information on investment policies and incentives.

Under this memorandum, the two parties undertake to hold meetings and conferences to increase the attractiveness of investment, develop imports, exchange technology and implement joint projects.

On this occasion, El Abdi stressed that this agreement comes within the framework of strengthening joint development and South-South cooperation, in accordance with the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which aims at strengthening cooperation and solidarity at the continental level.

Through this agreement, the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Regional Council aims to strengthen regional cooperation between Morocco and African countries, in particular Rwanda, said El Abdi.

For her part, Mukazayire welcomed the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, saying that the RDB is determined to implement this partnership to encourage investment, improve the business climate and contribute to economic development.

In this sense, he stressed the common desire to make this memorandum a pillar of cooperation between the two friendly countries.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Rwanda, Youssef Imani, the Vice-Presidents of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Regional Council, Saad Benmbarek and Aziz Hilali, and the Head of the Decentralized and International Cooperation Department of the Regional Council, Yassmine Amid.

On the Rwandan side, the ceremony was marked by the presence of the head of the pole of investment and marketing within the RDB, Philip Lucky.

During this visit, which will last until Friday, the Moroccan delegation is expected to hold a series of meetings with several Rwandan officials.
