Discussions focused on the operational arrangements put in place by both parties to ensure the best possible conditions for the Transit operation 2023, particularly in terms of fluidity, security and safety, assistance and proximity measures, communication actions, as well as prevention and health vigilance measures.
Thus, the national system is consistent with all sectoral interventions and includes a large-scale social assistance mechanism set up by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity abroad and in Morocco, with more than 1,400 social workers, doctors, nurses, temporary workers and ambulance drivers distributed among rest areas and border crossing points.
It also includes a coherent fleet plan, integrating 32 vessels and 9 maritime operators, serving 12 maritime lines with a daily capacity of more than 45,529 passengers and 12,357 vehicles on the Tangier Med-Algeciras line, an increase of 8%, and an investment of more than MAD 300 million for the upgrading of port infrastructure in Tangier Med, Nador, Al-Hoceima and Tangier City, as well as for comfort and facilitation measures for passengers (relaxation islands, shaded areas, walkways, display and signage system, dredging of ferry berths).
The system also includes medical and sanitary supervision along the roads (3,578 kilometers) and rest areas, mobilizing doctors, nurses, ambulances, temporary rescue centers and medical units.
The plan also emphasizes the mobilization of local authorities, including the establishment of ad hoc cells in the Provinces and Prefectures, the strengthening of security services and the mobilization of consular representations of Morocco in Spain with daily duty, including weekends and holidays.
To this end, important measures have been taken in maritime and road transport, including technical verification campaigns for ships and the mobilization of land transport inspectors.
To accompany this operation, a multimedia communication strategy for Moroccan nationals living abroad has been developed, in particular for the dissemination of practical information through the Marhaba website set up by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.
In addition, the two parties agreed to strengthen coordination between the focal points for a good flow of information and to anticipate on certain aspects related to the management of peak days, the interchangeability of tickets and the fight against speculation in the prices of sea crossings.
During this meeting, which took place in the presence of the Moroccan ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich, both parties also welcomed the central role of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity in the overall reception and assistance.
