During talks with the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, on the sidelines of the 76th session of the World Health Assembly (May 21-30), the official underlined the importance of strengthening primary health care and the production of vaccines and medicines, stressing their crucial role in achieving health sovereignty in Africa.
In this regard, Ghebreyesus expressed his support, as well as that of the entire WHO team, for the various reforms undertaken by Morocco in this sector.
He also stressed the need to strengthen preparedness and response to health emergencies, based on the experience of the Covid-19 pandemic, which brought about both social and economic changes.
For his part, Ait Taleb praised WHO’s efforts to improve the global health situation, reviewing the innovative projects launched by Morocco, in implementation of the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, particularly as regards the generalization of social protection and the reform of the health system.
