Seven Individuals Arrested in Salé and Meknes for Practicing Dental Medicine and Surgery without Authorization (BCIJ)

Rabat – The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) arrested this Wednesday, on the basis of precise information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, 07 individuals operating in the cities of Salé and Meknes, including two former detainees under the anti-terrorism law, for their alleged links with a criminal network specialized in forgery and use of forgery, fraud and usurpation of a function governed by the law in order to monopolize public funds, to practice the profession of doctor and dental surgeon without authorization or legal document and to undermine the health security of citizens.

Preliminary searches has revealed that two suspects have usurped, with the complicity of three dentists arrested in the same case, the function of dental doctor and practiced all related operations in clinics in Salé, subjecting their victims to surgery in flagrant violation of the laws governing the exercise of this profession, which has caused illnesses and serious complications to several of them, said the BCIJ in a statement.

The investigations also showed that the suspects were also involved in the falsification of several files relating to false hospitalization fees, with the aim of recovering sums of money by defrauding health insurance companies and provident and social security funds.

The individuals arrested were placed in custody as part of the investigations conducted under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, to determine all the ramifications of this case and identify possible other accomplices, concluded the same source.
