Gov’t Council Adopts Draft Decree on Creation of Directorate General of Digital Transition

Rabat – The Council of Government, convened Wednesday in Rabat, approved the draft decree No. 2.23.405 creating a Directorate General of Digital Transition and setting its powers and organization.

Presented by the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Ghita Mezzour, this project aims to ensure the convergence of the components of the National Strategy for Digital Development in order to provide the optimal framework for achieving the objectives of this strategy, inspired by the Royal High Directions, the New Development Model, the government program and lessons learned from the Covid-19 pandemic, in addition to international commitments related to the fields of digital transition, said the Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesman, Mustapha Baïtas, at a press briefing after the Council’s meeting.

This draft decree establishes a Directorate General of Digital Transition and sets its powers and its organization, to establish an organizational framework prior to the preparations for a national strategy for digital development in order to accompany and support projects related to this strategy and monitor its implementation, he added.
