Throughout the week of May 20-25, the Kingdom’s diplomatic representation actively contributed to organizing a series of events touching on several aspects, including the environment, sports and well-being, and the culinary arts.
One of the highlights of the Day’s celebrations was an awareness-raising and clean-up operation at a beach in Dar Es Salaam, during which the public was made aware of the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Sports activities were also organized as part of the celebrations, including a football match between the African Diplomatic Group (ADG) and a team from the Tanzanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, preceded by sports activities by the ADG Spouses Group and young people.
The Tanzanian Minister of Sport, Pindi Hazara Chana, was guest of honor at the event.
On Thursday, a Gala Dinner was organized in the presence of the Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Stergomena Lawrence Tax, and hundreds of guests including diplomats, senior politicians and representatives of the business world, including Moroccan companies established in Tanzania.
Speaking at the event, Zakaria El Goumiri, Morocco’s Ambassador to Tanzania, highlighted the diversity and economic potential of the African continent, stressing the need for greater intra-African cooperation to meet pressing challenges.
The ambassador noted the commitment of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the development and prosperity of Africa and its citizens, citing in this respect the royal speech delivered on the occasion of the African Sovereign Investors Forum (Rabat, June 2022), in which the Sovereign had called for an Africa by Africans and an Africa for Africans.
The Moroccan diplomat also highlighted the royal vision for South-South Cooperation, which places the continent’s human development at the heart of its priorities, notably through initiatives focusing on food security and climate adaptation, energy sovereignty, skills transfer and peacekeeping.
