Police Thwart Attempt to Traffic 830 kg of Cannabis Resin in Khouribga – Security Source

Rabat – Police officers from the Khouribga national security provincial district, on the basis of precise data provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), foiled on Friday an attempt to traffic 830 kg of cannabis resin (locally known as chira), according to a security source.

During this operation, a commercial vehicle, whose driver refused to comply, was intercepted while driving in the direction of Khouribga, explains the same source, adding that the car in question was subsequently immobilized on a secondary road towards the commune of Rommani. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 26 bales containing a total of 830 kg of chira.

Preliminary investigations at the scene led to the arrest of a single individual suspected of involvement in this drug trafficking operation, in possession of a sum of money which could be the proceeds of this type of criminal activity.

The person arrested was placed in police custody for investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, with a view to shedding light on the scope of this criminal operation and identifying the suspect’s accomplices.
