Switzerland Hails Morocco’s ‘Positive’ Role in Reaching Peaceful Political Transition in Libya

Rabat – Switzerland has welcomed Morocco’s “very positive” commitment to a peaceful political transition in Libya.

This position was expressed by Swiss Ambassador to Morocco Guillaume Shreurer in a tweet posted on Wednesday following the meeting in Bouznika of the 6+6 joint commission mandated by the Libyan House of Representatives and the High Council of State with drafting the electoral laws for the legislative and presidential elections in Libya.

The 6+6 joint commission announced Tuesday night that its members had reached a compromise on the laws for the presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for the end of the year after two weeks of meetings in Morocco.

The meeting in Bouznika is a continuation of the series of meetings organized by the Kingdom to bring together the various Libyan parties to deepen the dialogue on the ways and means of resolving the crisis in this country, following an approach that provides the ideal space for dialogue and constructive consultation.

Morocco continues its efforts to find a definitive solution to the Libyan crisis in a way that guarantees the unity, stability and progress of Libya by supporting its actions aimed at organizing elections within a comprehensive, inclusive and pragmatic framework.
