Morocco’s Court of Cassation Sing MoU with Burkina Faso’s Peer

Rabat – A memorandum of understanding has been sealed between Morocco’s Court of Cassation and its counterpart in Burkina Faso, with a view to consolidating ties of friendship, facilitating legal and judicial cooperation, and exchanging knowledge, experience and best practices to serve both courts’ interests.

The signing ceremony followed talks between the First President of the Court of Cassation, Deputy President of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary Power, Mohamed Abdennabaoui, the King’s Attorney General to the Court of Cassation, President of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, El Hassan Daki, with the First President of the Burkina Faso Court of Cassation, Jean Mazobé Konde, the Attorney General of the Burkina Faso Court of Cassation, Dama Ouali, and the accompanying delegation.

According to the memorandum of understanding, this cooperation covers issues relating to litigation within the jurisdiction of both courts, the regular exchange of visits by judges and civil servants, as well as the holding of seminars and joint activities focusing on the role of the Court of cassation, the modernization of its operation and management in areas that pose an international challenge, including the fight against corruption, terrorism and international crimes, as well as contract law, Internet development, the introduction of artificial intelligence and the dissemination of case law.

In an address, Abdennabaoui said that the meeting was part of the strong fraternal ties between Morocco and Burkina Faso, noting that these relations had been strengthened by the signing, on June 09 in Dakhla, of several bilateral agreements on the occasion of the 4th session of the Morocco-Burkina Faso Joint Commission.

The signing of this memorandum of understanding, which aims to strengthen legal cooperation between the two countries, is a further step towards consolidating cooperation through the holding of meetings and the promotion of fruitful exchanges between the judicial institutions of the two countries.

For his part, Daki noted that this meeting follows the 4th session of the Moroccan-Burkina Faso Joint Commission, which was an opportunity to examine new horizons for strengthening bilateral cooperation and establishing fruitful partnerships in several fields, in line with the vision and orientations of the Heads of State of the two countries, HM King Mohammed VI and H.E. President Ibrahim Traoré.

He also stressed that the signing of a memorandum of understanding on judicial cooperation between the two countries’ Courts of Cassation was an opportunity to affirm the solidity of the friendly relations existing between Morocco and Burkina Faso.

For his part, Mazobé Kondea stressed that the memorandum of understanding is an important tool for cooperation between the Courts of Cassation of Morocco and Burkina Faso, noting that joint action between the two countries is a fundamental milestone in strengthening the rule of law and relations of brotherhood and friendship.

He also noted that the signing of this memorandum, which represents an important step in strengthening bilateral cooperation with promising prospects, is an expression of the shared desire of the two countries to work together within the framework of a new dimension of legal and judicial cooperation, in the light of a partnership characterized by coordination and consultation.
